My Fingernails Take 5 Minutes And Last 2 Weeks. Here’s How.

My nails take me 5 minutes and last 2 weeks!

I love a good french manicure, but finding the time to make an appointment is challenging, not to mention that they aren’t cheap!

So, most of the time, I resort to do my nails myself. I find the time to paint them while my daughter, Mallory and I watch our weekly television shows together (I love the new “This Is Us” drama), during the commercials, of course.

I only use and recommend O.P.I. nail polish for your color as it covers and lasts the longest of any other brands of polishes I’ve used, and I have 40+ years of experience! I apply the first coat during the first commercial, the second coat during the second commercial break, and then use Nail Tek 2 for the top coat during the third commercial break. By the time our hour long show is over, my nails are good to go for two weeks (even longer for my toes)! The photo above was taken a week after I did my nails.

So to reiterate, here’s my steps for long-lasting polish on my nails:

  1. Two coats O.P.I. nail lacquer
  2. One coat Nail Tek II Intensive Therapy

The top coat MUST be Nail Tek II (as in the #2) as it’s the “glue” that holds the color in place. I’ve experimented with other top coat brands (OPI included), and NONE are as good at Nail Tek Two.

Shop Products from Amazon

Both OPI and Nail Tek are a tad more expensive (around $10 each) and not available in discount stores, but trust me, you get what you pay for and they are worth the few extra dollars. They are both available via Amazon though which I prefer to shopping offline any day!

P.S. What’s your favorite O.P.I. color? I’m always looking for new colors to add to my collection, so please comment with your faves. My go-to colors are usually mauves/pinks/reds with sparkles.

P.S.S. Did you know that if you get a professional manicure or pedicure, that you can bring along your own polish and have them use your polish while you’re sitting in the pedicure chairs? I always do that when I get a pedicure as that way, you have the color if you need to do touch-ups. Plus you never know how many times they’ve “watered down” their colors.
