Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp Recipe
- 4 cups sliced tart apples
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup softened butter
Heat over to 375 degrees. Arrange apple slices in greased square pan, 8×8 or 9×9. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the apples. Mix topping ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over apples. Bake about 45 minutes, or until topiing is golden brown and apples are tender. Serve warm with ice cream.
This topping recipe can be doubled for a 9×13 pan or cut in half if you prefer less topping or want a smaller batch. Simply use equal parts of oats, flour and brown sugar with half that amount of softened butter.
Double Recipe: Use 1 cup each of oats, flour and brown sugar with 1/2 cup butter.
Smaller Portion: Use 1/4 cup each oats, flour and brown sugar with 2 TBsp butter.
