Frosted sugar cookies are my all-time favorite cookies, and I may be biased, but I think my recipe is the best! This is the same recipe as my Christmas Sugar Cut-Out Cookies Recipe, only using heart shaped cookie cutters for Valentine's Day!
- 1 c. powdered sugar
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1 c. margarine (softened, but not melted)
- 2 eggs
- 4 c. flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp vanilla
- pinch or 2 of salt
Cool in refrigerator (usually overnight).
Roll out on flour (and flour the rolling pin) for cut-out cookies.
Bake 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
I only use AirBake pans.
Let cookies cool and frost…
The frosting that I use on my cut-out cookies is the same as my wedding cake frosting recipe.
- 4 c. powdered sugar
- 1/2 c. Crisco (or shortening)
- 1 tsp vanilla flavoring
- 3 TBsp milk (and add as needed)
Whip together with mixer until fluffy.
Separate and add food coloring to make different colors.
Frost, add sprinkle decorations (I just prefer colored sugar) and enjoy!
P.S. I can't take credit for the images (they are free images from Pixabay). I need to work on my photography skills plus find time to bake! In real life, my frosted sugar cookies are a tad thicker than shown, plus I add more frosting. 🙂
