Did you know that Walgreens offers a Prescription Savings Club? I didn’t either until now, and I’m glad I discovered it as my current health insurance doesn’t cover prescription medication costs for myself. I am thankful that my ex-husband has to carry health insurance on our kids to help offset those costs, although I am upset that Walgreens does not participate with Express Scripts now.

For $10 a year, a family membership in Walgreens Prescription Savings Club will cover everyone in your immediate family, including your spouse, your dependents ages 22 and younger and even your pets! Individuals, such as myself, can join for only $5 per year. You can join the Prescription Savings Club membership risk free. If you don’t save more than the cost of your membership during the course of the year of your membership, then they will refund you the difference!

I decided to check drug prices to see how much I could save. I currently just paid $133 for a 30-day supply of some medication (and was going to ask my doctor for something less expensive until a generic is released). According to the Walgreens website, that same medication would cost me $122 per month, which is an $11 savings. $11 x 12 months = $132 saved per year, which definitely offsets the $5 enrollment fee for me!

This is a limited-time offer through January 31st, 2012. For more details, Like Walgreens on Facebook and/or Follow Walgreens on Twitter.
