Consumer Reports Naughty & Nice List

On today’s TODAY Show (which you should know by now is my favorite show), Ann Curry interviewed Tod Marks, Senior Editor of Consumer Reports Magazine, where he gave us the low down on the Naughty & Nice List of Retailers for this Holiday Shopping Season.

“NICE” List of Holiday Retailers:

  1. Costco – because they offer generous return policies, free tech support, snf free extension of manufacturer warranties
  2. REI
  3. Amazon
  4. Cablevision
  5. Bi-Lo Supermarkets
  6. Live Nation
  7. American Express
  8. Orvis
  9. Crutchfield
  10. Microsoft

“NAUGHTY” List of Holiday Retailers:

  1. Radio Shack – instore prices may be higher than online pricing
  2. Verizon Wireless
  3. Sirius XM Satellite Radio
  4. Air Tran
  5. American Apparel
  6. Liberty Travel
  7. The Swiss Colony
  8. Southwest Airlines
  9. GameStop

Unfortunately living in hickville, I don’t live near any of the “Nice” brick-and-mortar stores, but I’m a huge Amazon.com fan, so will definitely be doing a lot of my holiday shopping there! In fact, I just ordered the Bridesmaids DVD for only $5.99 shipped to my door a few minutes ago!

As for the “Naughty” list, I do live near a few of those stores, so not sure what that is saying about location in regards to services?! In fact, I use Verizon Wireless, but that’s only because they have a monopoly on service here (that’s right, no AT&T service here). We also have a local Radio Shack and GameStop, but I did not plan on shopping at either of those places anyway. And I do fly Southwest quite often, for lack of other alternatives, but I do like their “Bags Fly Free” policy.

What stores are on your Naughty and/or Nice Lists?
