Handbags are probably one of our most prized possessions. Not only do they serve as fashion statements, but they are incredible too as they allow us to carry loads of essentials whenever we go out of the house.
Despite their utility, some of us are often confused as to what we should actually put into our handbags. As a result, we either put in lots of unnecessary items and make the handbag very heavy, or we put in practically nothing and land up in difficult situations.
If you can relate to it, you are not alone! In this article, we have put together a list of six essential items that should have a permanent spot in your handbags:
In This Post:
1. Hand Sanitizer
A hand sanitizer is the most important thing you need to keep in your handbag at all times. Every day, you travel places, you meet people and you touch thousands of surfaces with your hands. Many of these surfaces carry germs or have been touched by people having contagious diseases.
It thus becomes very important that you wash your hands regularly in order to keep them clean and germ-free. As you will not have soap and water at your disposal every time, you should keep a hand sanitizer so that you can clean your hands properly after every few hours.
2. Skincare Essentials
Your skin constantly demands care. Having some basic yet important skin care items handy makes life easier.
Some of these basic items include sunscreen, a lip balm, and a moisturizer. Prolonged exposure to the sun causes a lot of problems to your skin. Therefore, it is recommended to always apply sunscreen before going out into the sun otherwise it can be harmful (so much so that it can also cause skin cancer).
If you stay outside for long hours, your skin will tend to become dewy. You need to carry a moisturizer to keep your skin moisturized. Apply the moisturizer every few hours to keep your skin soft.
3. First Aid Kit
Carrying a basic first aid kit is very important. You never know when you are in an emergency situation and you need some medicine or treatment.
Keep your essential medicines always handy. Add some band-aids to the list as well.
Sure, this will increase the weight of your handbag but when you have an important meeting and are suffering from a headache, you will be thankful for this extra weight that you have been carrying around.
4. Snacks and Water
How many times have you wished for a snack in a handbag? If you are anything like me, chances are it happens way more often than we can count.
We take it for granted that we can grab a snack any time we want and thus do not carry anything to eat or drink in our handbags. But what happens is exactly opposite.
Whenever you get stuck in late night meetings in the office or in a long traffic jam, you won't be able to get a snack anywhere. To avoid this, you should always carry a small water bottle and a mini-snack tiffin to munch at times of terrible hunger blow!
5. Breath Mints
Ever been in a situation where you've come back after your lunch break and are informed about a meeting you have to attend or have overslept and need to rush to get to your workplace? In these situations, it becomes extremely important that there is a pack of mints in your handbag to avoid your breath smelling like the snack you have just had. Make a permanent place for the mints you like in your handbag.
6. Mini Umbrella
You obviously don't have the time to check the weather prediction every time you get out of your house. And of course who wants to get drenched in the rain when you have meetings to attend. Therefore, don’t forget to put a mini umbrella in your handbag so that you don't have to worry about rain.
These are some essentials that you should permanently put in your handbag as you never know when you might need any of them. These items will avoid you from getting into situations you'd rather avoid and also take care of your health and hygiene even when you are not at your home.
