If you are a parent, you will be wondering how to make your home as safe and secure as possible. When you look around, you realize that there are so many hidden dangers and not so hidden dangers, that it may be hard to protect against them all. However, protecting the family does not mean you have to spend thousands on security guards and a state-of-the-art security system.
There are other, more subtle ways to make things safer.
In This Post:
Invest in a deadbolt
An internal deadbolt is a great way to make things safer for everyone in the house when you're sleeping. They are not expensive and offer a great deal of safety. It is so much more difficult to break into a house when there is a bolt stopping someone. Unfortunately, break-ins are becoming more common. But it is far more difficult to break and enter into your home when there is a bolt stopping them.
Say goodbye to dust
You may wonder why this is on the list, but the fact of the matter is that dust particles contain many other harmful particles. Dust can cause allergies for one, and some dust particles are far more damaging. In some houses, dust can contain lead from old paint, fire retardants, pesticides, and various other toxins. So, if your house has a dust issue, you need to get hard with it. Remove old carpets and perhaps replace them with non-carpeted alternatives such as wood, lino, for example. Or possibly change your vacuum cleaner to a much more powerful alternative.
Security lights are a relatively cheap way to get that security you feel you lack. Lepro LED wall pack. If you know that a full-beam is going to scare off any wannabe intruder from darkening your doors, you will have more peace of mind. A security ight can do wonders as no one wants to be spotted breaking and entering.
Swap chemical-based products to natural alternatives
If you are a keen gardener or just a house proud homeowner and do a lot of cleaning, you should try and change your products from the chemical-based to natural or organic alternatives. Many products are full of harmful chemicals, which in small doses, are not too much of a concern. However, over time and if they are in constant use, they have the power to cause serious damage. It is a great idea to invest in non-toxic or organic products instead. This will protect your children. In the garden, overuse of pesticide and rat poison, for example, can cause issues. You should look for other solutions as overexposure to toxins, chemicals, and pesticides can cause many issues in young children. These include asthma, which can be a scary and debilitating condition. Also, pregnant women need to be especially careful of these things because if she breathes in too many chemicals, it can adversely affect the unborn child. Issues include cognitive functioning and learning disabilities. Where possible, buy the natural and less harmful alternative.
