I absolutely loved the Brookstone Inflatable Travel U-Pillow that I received as a gift back in 2008. I would blow it up when I got on the airplane, and then let the air out when I landed and tucked it away in my carry-on. I never blew it all the way up though because I didn't like bulk behind my neck, just on the sides. Anyway, I used my Brookstone Inflatable Travel Pillow so much that I wore it out!
I ended up buying an Isaac Mizrahi travel pillow while on a trip to San Francisco since I was missing my travel pillow. I made sure it had a snaps on it, so I could easily attach it to my bags. But I still didn't like it… 1) because of the bulk behind the neck and 2) it was still bulky to carry around while snapped on my carry-on bag.
Knowing how much I missed my inflatable travel pillow, Trevor gave me not one, but TWO inflatable travel pillows for Christmas!
I had seen a lightning good deal on this Samsonite Double Inflatable Neck Pillow that I had told him I was thinking of ordering. I figured Samsonite was a good brand known for luggage and traveling, and it appeared to have the same “velvet” texture of the Brookstone pillow I missed. Trevor hinted that I shouldn't buy it for myself, and he bought it for me!
Well, upon opening the carrying case of the Samonsite travel pillow, the seam ripped down the side! It appeared cheaply made. Strike one. Then I noticed the “double” part is extra padding behind the neck in the exact spot I wanted less padding. Strike two. Just because it was a deal, doesn't mean it was a good purchase.
Little did I know that Trevor had already ordered me the ONWEGO Soft-Top Inflatable Neck Pillow that he thought I would like, so he ended up ordering both inflatable travel pillows for me to compare and see which I liked better.
So when I went to Las Vegas last month, I put the ONWEGO Inflatable Neck Pillow to the “Kim test”…
The Onwego pouch is compact, so it fit easily into my computer bag. My Brookstone inflatable travel pillow never came in a bag that I remember anyway. If it did, I lost it…
Luckily this Onwego inflatable travel pillow has the pouch attached to the actual pillow so you can't lose it. That is pure genius! I took these photos while I was actually on an airplane to show you real-life examples (thus not the highest of quality photos).
And I blew the inflatable pillow up while silently hoping no one would sit by me on the airplane, so I could sleep (Las Vegas wears me out). I didn't blow it up all the way so when I put it around my neck and leaned back, the air would just move to the sides of the pillow.
I actually like the material of this Onwego inflatable travel pillow better than the Brookstone (and Samsonite) velvet pillows! It claims to be a new Soft-Top fabric that is a super soft cotton fabric with polyester batting so you don't sweat! It feels like t-shirt material to me.
And here is me putting the Onwego inflatable travel pillow to good use! I actually didn't get any sleep on this flight though. It was a full flight, and I ended up talking with the nice gentleman that sat next to me. It was a great networking experience so worth the lost sleep.
There you have it. I presume you now know which inflatable travel pillow won “the best” Kim-coveted award?! Yep, the Onwego inflatable travel pillow!
I hope Trevor was able to get My Onwego travel pillow on sale for 50% off, too!
