Every few years, it is nice to book a full blow-out of a vacation where you pitch up somewhere for a week and just take the time to chill.
While there are a million and one things to plan and organise, there are some things you should always think about doing. Here are our top tips for a memorable family vacation!
Camp
Some families aren’t made to squeeze into a tent for a week, no matter how roomy it is inside and that is fine. However, some kids would like nothing more than the idea of waking up every day to face the great outdoors!
Whether you are camping on a beach or settling down in one of the National Park’s campgrounds, you can be certain that a family camping holiday is going to be full of laughter and fun from the moment that first tent pole is put together.
T-Shirts
What could be cuter than all the kids lined up in matching t-shirts? Not only does it create a team spirit amongst the family, it can also help to act as a form of crowd-control if you are planning to visit somewhere crowded like a theme park. Custom T shirt printing is not as expensive as it used to be and as a result, you can make your own fun family design.
Why not get the kids involved? They could all contribute to the design on the t-shirt and pick their favourite colour for their one. It is a great way to help them feel included in the planning process.
Document Everything
Time to get snap-happy! Consider buying a small disposable camera for the kids to use but make it clear to them that it only has a finite number of images. This way, you can take photos with your smartphone or camera but the little ones can still have fun taking pictures of what they want; don’t forget to take video too. You could even try to put together a little home movie project telling the story of your adventure!
When you get home, keep the memories flowing! Sit down with the kids and your photos. A scrapbook or a memory board is a fantastic way to relive the vacation you had. Not only will it provide one last fun activity but it will also serve as a reminder of the fun time you had each and every time you look at it.
Get Adventurous with Food
If you are wanting to save a couple of bucks here and there on food, hit the local supermarket to see what snacks they have on offer. Hungry kids are cranky kids and the local shop might have the perfect new treat for them to try. What’s more, if they find it in the future then it will always remind of that one specific holiday.
The time is absolutely right for you to have that once in a lifetime holiday! Start planning those memories which you are always going to treasure today!
