Macy and Mallory had their yearly preemie twins eye exam for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) last week. With their medical history of ROP, their medical insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) will cover the cost of the exam, so I only have to pay the co-pay. They have EyeMed for vision insurance coverage, but our eye doctor doesn’t participate with EyeMed (boo for insurance companies that dictate what doctors we can and cannot see).
I had the eye doctor’s office print out the girls’ prescriptions and check their pupil distance, so I can then order them new affordable eyeglasses online as I always do. I can then print out an online receipt and mail it into EyeMed to be reimbursed a small amount if I’m lucky.
I am going to have them look for glasses at Zenni Optical, which is the number one rated online eyeglass store that not only offers complete $6.95 prescription eyeglasses , but they are also currently running a “Buy 2 Pairs, Get the 3rd Pair FREE” (of equal value or less) promotion on all eyeglasses! Guess that means, one of them can get an extra “fashion” pair or maybe some prescription sunglasses. Heck, I could get another pair for myself for my nigh driving!
