You could buy a car air freshener from virtually anywhere! Yes they smell great and can be relatively cheap, but their odor dies out after a few days and you are left having to buy even more. What’s more is that sometimes you end up with an air freshener that looks completely unattractive and spoils your fancy car. These are all reasons as to why you really ought to make your own air freshener. Not only will it last longer, but it can be in any shape, size and color making it perfect for you and your car.
This article will give you step by step instructions which will help you make your perfect car air freshener.
The first thing you need to do is assemble all of the items so that you are not left wandering trying to find the scissors half way through the process of making your freshener.
You are going to need some cardboard. You can easily recycle an old cereal box, a file cover or any other cardboard you may have lying around. You will also need any fabric that you do not need, meaning that yet again you have the opportunity to recycle. You will also need glue that is suitable for paper and cardboard and a good pair of scissors. A hole puncher or hole punching device will also be needed. You also have the option of using any additional decorative items such as glitter, gems etc. Some yarn, ribbon or a rubber band will also be needed. Finally, an essential or fragrance oil of your choice is required.
First of all, design a template for the air freshener on a piece of paper. This can be in any shape and any size that you require or prefer. Cut out the shape and put the template over the fabric and cut around it. You want to make sure that you cut 2 pieces of fabric out.
Now put the template over the cardboard and cut out one piece. Glue one piece of the fabric to one side of the cardboard. Next, glue the second piece of fabric to the second side of the cardboard.
Once the glue has dried, drip 10 to 20 drops of the oil over the 2 sides of the air freshener and allow the oil to dry.
Punch a hole at the top of the air freshener using your hole punch or other hole punching device. Do not use knives or scissors. Thread the hole with ribbon, thread, twine or a broken rubber band.
Hang your freshener from the rear view mirror or wherever else you desire in the car. Knot the ribbon, thread, twine etc. into place and ensure that the air freshener does not interfere with your view.
Voila! You have made your very own air freshener which looks the way you want, smells the way you want, is the right shape and size – in other words, it is perfect!!
All you need to do now is enjoy driving in your aromatic car. Should your car freshener seem to lose fragrance, simply refresh it by adding more drops of oil to it. This is ideal since you are not going to have to make a brand new freshener.
Making your own air freshener works out a lot cheaper since you are basically recycling all of your old items. The only item that you may need to purchase is the essential oil, which is relatively inexpensive and will last you a very long time. So go ahead and give it a try today!
